About the Toolbox App

Toolbox App is an application that provides an entry point for downloading, updating, and configuring IntelliJ-based IDEs, local and remote projects, and managing providers.

There are various ways to organize your working environment, which include the following options:

Local

Everything is right in one place. You can start the IDE, you can access a list of your local projects ready to start, and you can access the available services.

Remote

The remote access lets you configure your remote environment and work with remote projects the same way as you would with the local ones using the SSH connection.

Dev environments

The Toolbox App supports the ability to configure the development environment using various providers, for example, CodeCanvas.

UI overview

The UI of the Toolbox App is user-friendly and quite easy to navigate.

With the following UI elements you can achieve various tasks:

Toolbox App menu

You can use this menu to do the following:

Update the Toolbox App

Updates the application to the next available build.

Check for updates

shows what updates are available in your product package.

Settings

Opens the user settings. In this window you can manage the language settings, choose how frequently you want to update the application, log out, and send the usage statistics.

About

Displays various links to the Toolbox App site where you can check related blogposts, FAQ, and other useful information.

FAQ

Lists frequently asked questions that might rise using the Toolbox App.

Quit

Closes the application.

Environment switcher

Use the switcher to do the following:

  • Recents:

    use this option to see the list of active projects located locally, remotely, or in the dev environments.

  • Local:

    use this option to manage all your tools, projects, and services on your local machine.

  • SSH: use this option to connect to and manage your remote projects.

  • Manage Providers: use this option to work with one of the available providers.

Tabs

Use the tabs for the following:

  • Tools: use this tab to manage the IDEs.

  • Projects: use this tab to manage your projects.

  • Services: use this tab to manage the available services.
